Added a new “Load on user interaction” toggle inside Chat Widget > Chat Window tab > Additional Options.
When enabled, the chat widget will delay loading until the visitor interacts with the website.
This helps improve initial website performance and reduces unnecessary widget load during page rendering.
The default behaviour remains unchanged for existing widgets unless the toggle is manually enabled.
👷 How It Works:
Navigate to Sites > Chat Widget Builder.
Open the Chat Window tab of the specific chat widget.
Under Additional Options, enable the new “Load on user interaction” toggle.
Once enabled:
The widget will load only after a visitor interaction, such as: Scroll, Click or Touch interaction.
If no interaction occurs, the widget will automatically load after a fallback delay of approximately 8 seconds.
If the toggle is disabled or not configured:
The chat widget will load immediately, in accordance with the existing behaviour.
⭐ Why It Matters:
Improves overall website performance by reducing immediate script execution during page load.
Helps reduce blocking time, enhancing user experience, particularly on mobile devices.
Ensures the widget is available for genuine visitors while minimising the impact on page speed.
Provides businesses with greater flexibility in balancing performance and customer engagement.
📝 Notes:
Existing widgets will continue to use immediate load behaviour unless the setting is explicitly enabled.
This applies to customer-facing chat widgets only, which are present on any digital property.
Includes default fallback auto-load behaviour to ensure widget availability even without interaction.
