Turkey SMS Regulation – International SMS Containing URLs Now Blocked
Effective from 1st April 2026, Turkey’s Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) has introduced a new regulation that prohibits all international A2P SMS messages containing URLs, hyperlinks, or shortened links sent to recipients in Turkey.
Turkish operators are now preventing the delivery of any international SMS that includes internet addresses or URLs. Such messages will generate error code 30007 and may result in fines imposed by the operators.
This regulation is applicable to all types of SMS, including transactional messages like order confirmations, shipping updates, and one-time passcodes.
If you are sending SMS to recipients in Turkey, please remove all URLs, hyperlinks, and shortened links from your SMS templates and messages immediately to avoid delivery failures and potential fines.
If you have a local business entity in Turkey and need to continue sending URLs via SMS, you will need to:
- Secure a direct contract with Posta Güvercini, a local messaging platform.
- Authorise Posta Güvercini as your service provider via the Turkish Message Management System (IYS).
- Contact our support team to finalise the setup.
If you are not sending SMS to Turkey or your messages do not contain URLs, no action is required.
