Redeeming Gift Cards in Offline Payment Flows

Businesses can now redeem customers’ Gift Cards while collecting payments directly within the platform. Previously, Gift Cards could only be redeemed by customers at customer-facing checkouts. With this update, businesses can now apply a customer’s Gift Card when recording or collecting payments on their behalf, ensuring a consistent redemption experience across both customer-facing and business-initiated payment journeys.

Whether you are recording a payment, charging a customer directly, or creating a subscription, you can now use the customer’s available Gift Card balance before charging any remaining amount to their saved payment method.

Gift Card redemption is now supported in:

• Orders → Record Payment → Charge a Card
• Invoices → Record Payment → Charge a Card
• Contacts → Charge Now
• Contacts → Create Subscription
• Subscriptions → Create Subscription

Businesses can simply enter a Gift Card code, validate it, and redeem the available balance as part of the payment process.

Note: In the case of ‘Create Subscription’, Gift Cards are currently not redeemable on future-dated or scheduled subscriptions; this capability will be available soon.

Gift Card redemption operates in the same way as it does on customer-facing checkouts.

• If the Gift Card balance covers the full payment amount, the payment is completed entirely using the Gift Card.
• If the balance is lower than the amount owed, the Gift Card balance is redeemed first and the remaining amount is automatically charged using the customer’s saved payment method.
• Appropriate validation messages are displayed for invalid, expired, or zero-balance Gift Cards.
• This allows businesses to confidently accept Gift Cards, regardless of who is initiating the payment.

Whenever a Gift Card is redeemed:

• Transaction Details clearly show the amount redeemed using the Gift Card.
• Split payments display the Gift Card amount separately from the remaining payment collected using another payment method.
• The associated Gift Card Order is automatically updated with the remaining balance after every successful redemption.

Gift Card redemption is now available while collecting payments through:

Payments → Orders → Record Payment

Payments → Invoices → Record Payment

Contacts → Charge Now

Contacts → Create Subscription

Payments → Subscriptions → Create Subscription

Simply enter the customer’s Gift Card code during payment and click Apply before completing the payment.
