Fixed: ‘Create/Update Record’ Picklists Now Accept Dynamic Values
Dropdown Field Issue Resolved
In the actions Create Record and Update Record, the dropdown fields, including associated record versions, were not providing dynamic values. Previously, if you had saved something like {{contact.day_1}} in a dropdown, the field would open empty with no selection available. Additionally, there was no option to enter a new merge tag.
Now, single-select dropdown fields feature a Standard and Dynamic toggle, similar to the one used in Update Contact Field.
In Standard mode, you have a searchable picklist with image options. In Dynamic mode, you get a text input with a custom value picker, allowing you to insert a merge tag from a trigger, formatter, or inbound webhook. Previously saved values that do not match a picklist option now automatically open in Dynamic mode, preserving your existing configurations. Switching between modes clears the field, preventing a leftover value from one mode being saved unintentionally.
- This update applies to Create Record, Update Record, and associated record actions, in both contact-based and custom object workflows.
- Multi-select fields were not affected by this issue.
- Update Contact Field already had this toggle and remains unchanged.
- Switching between modes intentionally clears the current value. Be sure to re-enter it after making the change.
